Why Kitchen Table Conversations?

Voices of Wannon believe that we can create a more meaningful connection between the people of Wannon and our political representatives. We plan to do this by seeking your input through a process called Kitchen Table Conversations. This process allows the Wannon electorate to give voice to their interests, concerns and ideas which are heard, collated and placed at the centre of the political process.

What are Kitchen Table Conversations?

The ‘Kitchen Table Conversation’ (KTC) process follows a simple and powerful model where small groups meet and discuss what’s important to them. The purpose is to listen and learn about what is important to people. KTCs are a forum for listening, not for changing the opinions of others. Participants should feel included, valued and respected. There is no place for argument, nastiness or disrespect. All opinions are valid.

This consultative process will culminate in a report which will draw together the threads of our conversations, gather our ideas, our vision and concerns from across our electorate. The report will be presented to our current political representative in the spirit of honest and respectful civic engagement and to guide them in their decision-making for the community.

Through this process we hope to be able to engage local representatives, and ultimately if this feedback is not given due consideration, to facilitate a transparent pathway to endorsing future independent political candidates.

We invite people from across the Wannon Electorate to be a part of the conversation, to be a Voice!

Our 2024 round of Kitchen Table Conversations has been completed.
